Below is a list of changes to World of Naruto:


These can all be viewed in game with the CHANGES command



  • 91) 10 June 2008:
  • We are at Stage 3 - Arena battles. 6 contestants left.
  • Changed arena so that pets return after you have left.
  • Shunshin, Hiraishin, Nexus and Teleport no longer take you to the arena + they can no longer be used whilst in the arena.
  • Disabled exploding notes for now until they stop crashing.


  • 90) 6 June 2008:
  • Oh no! Worst case scenario happened! We had a crash in the middle of Stage 2! Why didn't it happen during Stage 1 when it didn't matter? Anyway the bug was fixed, but we have to annoying place items all over again, and many people are inconvenienced.
  • Also changed missions so that they don't give you missions to crypt unless you are a Chuunin (which nobody is right now)


  • 89) 3 June 2008:
  • Fixed a number of typos / made some minor stylistic changes
  • Put in a max bet of 100 Ryo for arena battles due to alleged misuse
  • Locate object now won't work while you are doing Stage 2 of the Exams

  • Added entire first level of the crypt (level 55-80), all mobs, chests, keys, rooms, money and items. All ready for people to test out.
  • Fixed up shunshin again so it doesn't go into newbie areas.
  • Fixed up some over powered items at Tsui clothes shop and ANBU guild

  • Re-added stuff from 23-24 May 2008.
  • Shunshin / Hiraishin / Nexus are now level dependent.
  • Wrote Chuunin Exams stage 1 (for when it starts on 2 June).

  • Akatsuki now has a guild, with an apprentice who sells stuff

  • Made Shadow Grove maze easier to navigate - there are now 3 portals you can enter in there to get to the 3 adjoining areas
  • Added crypt keeper mob to shunshin to to get to the crypt

  • Shunshin now can't go into newbie areas & missions don't go there.
  • Added PROMPT DRESQ and PROMPT KAZUME for some popular alternatives


  • 83) 23 May 2008:
  • Exploding notes now go to the user after you disable them, and are now meltdrop rather than noremove/nouncurse (Isken).
  • Solvent can now remove nouncurse items (MUCH harder tho).
  • Fixed up weaken (Dresq).
  • You can no longer shunshin/hiraishin to guild rooms.

  • You now get a minimum skill of 75% in your chosen animal (and blood)
  • Teleport now only works on yourself (to flee, etc) and mobs that were teleporting players now shatter instead.
  • Added EXPLODING NOTES. Can PLACE, EXPLODE and DISABLE.

  • Changed group exp so that it is based on the highest level member of the group, so that level 5s can't power level grouped with level 51s.
  • Made marking and nehan shouja start a fight (Jenova).
  • Disabled steal vs players when players are sleeping (Jenova).

  • Fixed some typos/various minor bugs (Dresq)

  • Fixed up SCAN so that it no longer scans through doors, and can no longer be used a distance in a direction (use FARSIGHT to do that)
  • Renamed Dispel Magic to SHATTER (also don't need to use perform)
  • Renamed Faerie Fire to MARKING (also don't need to use perform)
  • Renamed Faerie Fog to REVEAL (also don't need to use perform)
  • Renamed Detect Magic to DETECT CHAKRA
  • Deleted 2 incomplete zones, both called "Land of Waves"
  • Added IMM command BOOT to boot users (not to be abused!)

  • Re-added a few things that were accidentally wiped when fixing up the crash bugs (I had had to go to an earlier backup, etc)
  • Changed WHERE command so it now says area and room name
  • Got 12th entrant (Wakaru) for the Chuunin exams = they can now go ahead! Also got 13th (Kinto) so we now have an emergency. Please confirm your participation with a note to say that you are available on the dates suggested.

  • Fixed up WAKE so that you can wake someone else...

  • Lowered exp gain on a sliding scale after level 20
  • Added saving throw to score.
  • Ryo/ryo all now seems to be weightless (fingers crossed).

  • Added in pills! You can now buy pills to heal your hp, chakra and stamina! Shikamaru and Kiba in New Konoha sell them.
  • Changed how heal works - it now heals your level of hps. Did this so that it can be used more efficiently in pills.
  • Made Herbal Remedy and Antidote both create items (pills).
  • Added mob-only ability channelling for use with pills and by healers.
  • Added new guild [ 7 SWORDS ].
  • Made new Naruto-real pets as a temp replacement for summons.
  • Got rid of aliases of cast, spells and recall (perform/jutsus/anki).

  • Reduced the bonus for serpent summons from +10 to +5 hr/dr (all players with serpent summons had the bonus reduced...)

  • Got rid of charm, summon and word of recall jutsus (they still exist, but players can't use them - its because they devalue blood summons + word of recall is redundant)
  • Fixed up so that medit, redit etc are no longer valid commands for non-imms (keisuke)
  • Added cancel jutsu for medinins (e.g. Shizune, hospital staff)
  • Added all battle-ready and cancel jutsus for healing slug
  • Fixed a crash bug for blood summons
  • The practice dummy is back! Fixed up the bugs relating to him (it was due to him having too many hps, etc). He is now level 1, next to impossible to hurt, but you can practice skills on.

  • Fixed up a bug with imm-only command UNCOMMIT which was caused by a bug fix for animals being accidentally uncommitted when you died!
  • You can now choose the wear location for the Genin reward forehead protector


  • 48) 17 April 2008: Finished the Genin exams!
  • Bells test is done.
  • It shows up in who whether you are a Genin or not.
  • It shows up in score too.
  • You get a forehead protector as a reward for finishing the exam, with your name on it and which village you are from.

  • Fixed up a bug where you could gain some skills but not practice them (e.g. Ultimate Henge) (Kazume)
  • Made all specialisations get Enhanced Damage, Second and Third Attacks equally (after all, choosing a specialisation doesn't change your ability to fight, just which jutsus you use).

  • Changed starting age to be 5 instead of 17 - everyone's ages have been reduced by 12. Note: We need to have more of a discussion about what is the right starting age, and this may change in time...
  • Fixed up mission item "protection potion" which was giving the wrong jutsus
  • Changed HELP AWARD to reflect our current policy (read it if you want mission points)

  • Rasengan - changed up to level 21 Nin, made more powerful

  • Dual, Maximum and Full Body Chidori - changed up levels, more power
  • Goukakyuu - changed down to level 6 Nin, made less powerful
  • Shuriken Throw, Kunai Throw, Choku Zuki, Mae Geri - halved damage, doubled cost (Ruin)
  • Changed display of OOC/gossip so it now says "You OOC".
  • Changed reward missions so that you get the same amount of points as with regular missions.
  • Fixed up bug that was causing mission info to show (MISSION) and nothing else.
  • Fixed up bug that was causing mission mobs to say (QUEST) instead of (MISSION).
  • Lowered mps for reward and regular missions.
  • You now keep your summon commitment even after you die. (Kazume)
  • The practice dummy was malfunctioning and has been retired (Konnal)


  • 41) 10 April 2008:
  • Added spec_genin as a mob option which gives mobs the ability to perform all 10 of our "perform" jutsus.
  • Added off_nara, off_shuriken, off_kunai, off_choku and off_mae so that mobs can perform 5 more jutsus too.


  • 40) 9 April 2008:
  • Linked to new zone "New Konoha" and added it to HELP DIRS (Kikane)
  • Added KATSUYU and MANDA to HELP SLUG AND SERPENT (Tasico)
  • New players now get a barrel full of ramen as part of their newbie equipment (Tasico)
  • Created a mission item "Crystal of the first hokage" which is a light that never runs out (Tasico)
  • Added a new clan HAKU (Mist Village) - named after Haku.

  • Fixed a minor bug with Choku Zuki costing too much stamina.

  • Changed the level that the new jutsus are available at, in accordance with what specialties people have chosen (1/3/5/10 rather than 1/5).
  • Added a new Genjutsu NARAKUMI - see HELP NARAKUMI. (Kazume)
  • Changed helpfiles for GENJUTSU, NINJUTSU, ARTIST, TAIJUTSU.
  • Made Kikane a builder (alt of Kazume)
  • Started new zone "New Konoha" which will replace Konoha when done.

  • Fixed up a minor name bug in Training Dummy Factory (Sako)
  • Fixed up HELP DEATH (Kazume)
  • Added directions to Kiri in HELP DIRS (Kazume)
  • Got rid of spec_executioner (KILLER / THIEF killer) & got rid of KILLER / THIEF part of spec_guard i.e. mobs no longer kill players with KILLER / THIEF flags
  • Made new immortal command CRIME to give/remove KILLER / THIEF flags
  • Made it so that blood summons are no longer charmed, their mob programs have been tweaked a little, and they leave you when you log off.

  • Halved rewards from REWARD (it was WAY too powerful - it was giving 3 times an S ranked mission's rewards. Now it gives half that.)

  • 35) 4 April 2008: The following changes were made:
  • Fixed up HELP CLANS as it hadn't listed Hyuuga as an option (no wonder nobody had picked it). (Sako)
  • Made Amekage, Yukikage, Otokage - mobs, kage offices, guards and altered MISSION WHERE to show them
  • Added IMM command AWARD to give (or subtract) exp and mission points. In this way we can then have IMM quests! (see HELP AWARD)
  • Added guilds (see HELP GUILD for what are available).
  • Added the ability to have clan-only rooms so that we can have a room (or rooms) per village for all of the clans in the village.
  • Fixed up KILLER and THIEF so that they actually go eventually (when flagged, the flag has a 50% chance of being removed after you die). (In the initial code, it was a permanent setting!!!)
  • Made it impossible to join IMM guild unless you are an imm!
  • I have also added an arena. It has been tested and it works fine, but I want to make it really good before copying it over to the main port.
  • Believe it or not this changes file is so long I've gone past the max buffer size! To see older entries, type HELP OLDER.


  • 34) 3 April 2008: The following changes were made:
  • Added lots of help files etc for mission code so its easier to use
  • Created kage mobs to give you missions, and created rooms for cloud, mist and rock kage offices.
  • Gave directions to Tsunade and Gaara who already existed beforehand.
  • Created hidden invis high level guards (4x per kage) to stop anyone from trying to kill the kages (its possible, but VERY difficult)
  • Tweaked some of the mission equipment (Sasuke's bottomless snake sleeves and Ichiraku's endless flask of ramen for example)
  • Fixed exits in Cloud village. (Sako)
  • Removed aggy flag from wandering mob in Cloud village. (Sako)

  • 33) 2 April 2008: Introduced mission code! See HELP MISSION to start you off, and MISSION WHERE to find out where your nearest kage is, and how it all works. If you want to see a list of mission equipment, go to the nearest kage and type MISSION LIST. While on a mission, it shows up on WHO. You can also add it to your prompt using %m for mission time or %M for mission points.


  • 32) 18 March 2008: The following changes were made:
  • New commands SPY and TRANSPORT for Pakkun, tracking hound summon.
  • Made various summons-related commands prettier.
  • New command ADVICE for Gamikichi, the toad summon.
  • Affects show as chakra/stamina/ryo rather than the old names.
  • Henge now shows a mob's short description rather than their vnum name

  • New command CALL - calls your summon from wherever they are
  • New command STRIKE - for secret snake arms summon
  • Imm command UNCOMMIT now also removes the summoned mob (oops)
  • Made Karyuu Endan and Goukakyuu look pretty again
  • New summoning pracs - BLOOD, SERPENT etc used for summoning skills
  • If your summon gets lost they automatically return to you later
  • UNSUMMON gets rid of your summon (or SUMMON by itself)
  • Made summons prettier
  • Fixed minor bug with CURE command
  • Now checks if your summon has died every tick


  • 30) 16 March 2008: The following changes were made:
  • Summons are back in
  • While slugs are summoned they can use CURE
  • Committing to a summon now gives a perm bonus of DR/HR, hp, ch or st
  • Fixed up another bug with henge that was causing a crash
  • Fixed up a bug with summon that was causing a crash
  • Mobs who have money when they die now give ryo rather than silver/gold
  • When you go to hospital ("death") your stuff is now in a suitcase

  • Fixed henge so it works 100% right.
  • Mud announcements - when someone logs on/off, gains a level or dies
  • Added GAIN REVERT (change trains to practices)
  • Wimpy and Autoall now turned on for new characters
  • Changed login screen to have all credits back in
  • Fixed up area credits to include original authors


  • 28) 13 March 2008: Lots of bug fixing today, also changed the max space variable so that we can actually add stuff! Added in the NEWS on the login prompt, which hopefully people notice.


  • 27) 12 March 2008: Below is a list of the changes made in the big update encompassing 2-12 March 2008 (10 days) working on the test port:
  • Villages now save rather than going back to Leaf.
  • We now have clans (lastnames).
  • Lots of area changes.
  • When you die, you now go to hospital, with your stuff at your feet.
  • Anki has replaced Recall.
  • You no longer utter words, you now make handseals to perform jutsus.
  • Gold/silver have been replaced with Ryo (Ryo is 100x more than ryo).
  • Move points have been replaced with stamina.
  • New players now get wimpy and autoall turned on for them.
  • Changed prompts with %c for chakra, %t for stamina, %y for ryo. To change yours you can type PROMPT ALL, PROMPT BASIC or PROMPT GOOD, depending on your preference - or make your own.
  • Depending on village choice, you get clan choices. Depending on clan choice, your choice of specialties is restricted.
  • Got rid of summoning for now (I am bugfixing it).
  • Added in imm commands to set people's village and lastname, to help fix up the bugs.


  • 26) 4 March 2008: I've now got rid of the bug that was causing villages not to save (and various related crash bugs), at least on the test port. Its not ready to swap over yet, however (areas haven't been changed, nor have skills been copied over, etc) and I am going to set up clans (family names) in the next day or two now.


  • 25) 3 March 2008: We now have a test port (9001). Don't login there - it will be shut down constantly (and the main port 9000 won't so much now). No consideration will be made to anyone who might login there. We are going to be starting over with the code, but this time doing it in a better way. Once we have it up to the level that the main port is at, and its tested to be stable, we will swap them over.


  • 24) 2 March 2008: Added basic forms for the 4 summoning types - you can now summon a serpent, hound, slug or toad to fight alongside you. Yet to create the commands associated with them - for now they just fight with you (Slug should heal you automatically though). Changed how henge works - it had been crashing when it wore off, so I fixed that by making it permanent. It now costs 25 chakra plus 3 per tick while you have it on. I redid some help files - HELP NEWBIE, HELP NARUTO (new), HELP GUIDE and related HELP 1, HELP 2, HELP 3, HELP 4, HELP 5, HELP 6 - to make it easier for newbies.


  • 23) 1 March 2008: Added a newbie helpful bit - HELP DIRS. Now you can figure out more easily where to go to level more easily. Name change - we are now officially known as "World of Naruto", rather than "Naruto MUD".


  • 22) 29 February 2008: Blood now in! See HELP BLOOD. At present you can commit to an animal (see HELP COMMIT) but yet to create summon animal types. For failsafes, created new immortal commands: uncommit, village & specialty - to change mortal characters. In other news, you no longer die - you now get summoned back to recall along with all your stuff (it still creates a corpse and you lose lots of exp tho, but at least the corpse and stuff is there with you and it doesn't say you die).


  • 21) 28 February 2008: Reduced the chakra cost of henge for generic villages from 60 down to your level x 1.5. Added in new rooms to Ninja Academy - Specialisation Rooms (6 rooms). They also include practice dummies for you to hone your skills against - hard to kill, but give good exp. Added a new Ninja Art - Kunai Throw! Works the same way as shuriken throw but with more damage, and the chance of poison! Modified the THROW command so that it can now be used for either, depending on what you are holding.


  • 20) 27 February 2008: Henge now works! It now has an affect (henge) that shows up in score/affects. This then determines whether certain mobs will attack or not. There are an awful lot of mobs who have an ASSIST_VILLAGE flag (guards, for example, or like mobs). With henge on, you can attack mobs in a room with 10 like mobs, and the others won't assist! Because of the pfile problems, I have had to make Henge MORE POWERFUL than I had intended - it now works for ALL VILLAGES / ANIMAL TYPES rather than just the one selected.


  • 19) 26 February 2008: Improved Henge: Transform - it now lets you transform into villages (including NPC villages) as well as into people in the room. It also now costs chakra to perform it (even though it doesn't do anything yet). Changed shuriken throw and punch so that if it fails it costs half the chakra/move points. Changed punch to do more damage.


  • 18) 25 February 2008: Partially added in a new jutsu called henge, so that it pretends to do something but doesn't actually do anything (see HELP HENGE). Redid advance level so that hps, chakra and move all gain 2 when stats are 13, up to a max of 6-39 when stats are 25. Added HELP STR, HELP INT, HELP WIS, HELP DEX, HELP CON to explain how it all works. Tweaked regen again to be fairer, and got rid of the pesky class modifiers. Added in alternate names for some jutsus. SHURIKEN or THROW, HENGE or TRANSFORMATION, KAWARIMI or REPLACEMENT. Also added in CAST and HANDSEAL as alternates of PERFORM (both in case you forget how it works, and if you think of handseals as a better way to perform jutsus).


  • 17) 24 February 2008: Changed damage messages (see HELP DAMAGE). Fixed up prompts so that you can have twice as long a prompt as before. Who now has a pretty colour display and also shows a count. Tweaked punch and shuriken to be fairer. Wrote HELP MUD to make life easier for newbies. Added new jutsu (level 6 for everyone) called Kawarimi. Means you can flee without losing experience points (and adds cool messages). You now regenerate 3 times as fast as before (it was taking WAYYY too long to heal).


  • 16) 23 February 2008: New jutsu - Punch. Tweaked shuriken throw (see HELP PUNCH and HELP SHURIKEN for details). Got rid of Mota - you now sacrifice to your sensei. New command - scan (see HELP SCAN). Made an all-purpose trainer and practice master 1 north of recall, along with an impossible-to-kill practice dummy (that doesn't fight back). Also updated HELP GAIN, HELP TRAIN and HELP PRAC.


  • 15} 22 February 2008: Our first real new jutsu - Ninja Art: shuriken throw! Works with either "shuriken" or "throw". Fixed up a bug with newbie equipment that was making ANBU torch have the flag "east" (making opening east doors rather difficult!). Characters now heal totally when they gain a level.


  • 14) 21 February 2008: New jutsus! Karyuu Endan and Goukakyuu! I actually wrote these a week ago but various bugs meant that they took this long to be implemented. Also changed arena (Ninja Academy) to Leaf Village Forest. Players now get 20 trains/30 pracs when they start (instead of 3/5), stats are now trainable to 25 instead of 18, and you get 2 trains per level (i.e. we made it a lot easier, as we realised it was a bit too hard for everyone). We have altered all existing characters to add in the extra trains and pracs.


  • 13) 19 February 2008: Went from 17 villages down to 13, after research proved that Bird, River, Tea and Sea were probably not ninja villages (if they are, then they can be added back). Also renamed Stone village as Rock village per its more commonly used name. Created help plans so that you can follow what we are planning to do in the future.


  • 12) 18 February 2008: Changed names of various trainers so that they are now appropriate characters out of Naruto (check them out). Spent an awful lot of time making new jutsus that then didn't work.


  • 11) 17 February 2008: Changed the mayor mob program so that it no longer wanders and now says a specific text. Fixed a bug that was making the newbie sword (shinai) of type dagger!


  • 10) 16 February 2008: We now have village-specific recalls! Because the villages haven't been built properly yet, I have added an exit going UP to the Ninja Academy so that people don't get lost. Also fixed up another typo (performle). Renamed rooms in Mist village to kiri, Sand village to suna (the names of the villages). Can now choose from 17 villages! All with helpfiles and everything. Only the first 4 have village-specific recalls though.


  • 9) 15 February 2008: Redid all 4 classes, to change what skills and jutsus are available for each to make it more realistic. Also added in new skill groups multi, fighting, disabling, recovery, thievery, avoidance. Added new liquid type ramen (it quenches your thirst and hunger all at once!). Added new jutsu "chakra balls". Typing "OOC" now does gossips (thanks Krator). You can now gain skills/jutsus/groups from Shinobi Sensei at recall.


  • 8) 14 February 2008: Got rid of Midgaard forever! Fixed up various typos (dagenjutsu,genjutsunta,jutsuing,gvillage,tvillage,bvillage, leafoid,leafs) due to speedy programming.


  • 7) 13 February 2008: New class - Artist (Ninja Art specialist). Fixed a few bugs - Class now shows in who (Tai, Gen, Nin, Art), fixed some typos in various files, as a result of global replaces gone wrong, we now have Chakra, improved class help files.


  • 6) 12 feb 2008: New help files ( help guide; and Help Wave) made a new area also will be working on that. also changed the weapo list from the sand village some. Restored Elemental Canyon as it was causing a crash.


  • 5) 12 February 2008: New classes! Taijutsu, Genjutsu, Ninjutsu classes in, still (for now) keeping the thief class. You no longer cast a spell, now you perform a jutsu. Upgraded help village (and all of its related helps).


  • 4) 11 February 2008: We now have villages! Added leaf, stone, mist, sand villages (no sound yet - to come!).


  • 3) 10 February 2008: Created help changes (this) Got rid of ANSI prompt at login. Made our own login screen (in colour). Got rid of various prompts at login (but not all). Created help PK, help rules, and various other help files for planned ideas. More building. Help village now gives village info (but no actual villages yet).


  • 2) 9 February 2008: Renamed Mud School to Ninja Academy. Made various changes to Ninja Academy and Konoha. Renamed New Thalos to Sand Village. Made various changes to Sand Village. Renamed Elemental Canyon to Sound Village, Ofcol to Mist Village and Dwarven Kingdom to Stone Village.


  • 1) 8 February 2008: Opened the MUD using stock Rom 2.4b code. Made various changes to rooms, mobiles and objects in konoha and mud school. Renamed Midgaard to Konoha.
